Getting Involved

Sunday Lay Ministries

Picture

We encourage all of our parishioners to be actively involved in ministry in service to God and others through the church. There are many opportunities throughout each week to seek God and Serve others! We provide training for all of these lay ministries. If you are interested in serving the Lord in some way, call the Office at 480-964-5820 or send an email to office@stmarksmesa.org.
Acolytes — We are adults and children who serve as crucifers, torch bearers, or altar servers during the services. Contact Dave Klataske or Fr. Brambila if you are interested in serving.

Altar Guild — We prepare the altar for every service, including special services, with the vessels, elements, linens, garments, and other appointments used in the liturgy. We meet every other month, usually the 3rd Saturday from 10:00-11:30 A.M. Diane Lewis is the ministry leader.

Greeters Ministry – Every Sunday, members of the Greeters Committee are in the narthex welcoming established members and new visitors to St. Mark’s. Our goal is to try and make everyone feel welcomed, informed, and appreciated. If you would like to be a member of our committee, please contact Judy Hossack at judyhossack@yahoo.com.

Readers/Lectors, Intercessors, Chalice Bearers - Being a participant in our services of worship enhances our experience each Sunday. Readers/Lectors read the scriptures aloud. Intercessors lead the congregation in the intercessory prayers (Prayers of the People) during the worship service. Chalice Bearers serve the consecrated during the services of Holy Communion. The Vicar provides training for all of these lay ministries. If you are interested, please contact Fr. Gerardo.

Ushers-Ushers and Greeters are the first people to meet parishioners, newcomers, and visitors as they enter the door. A friendly smile, warm handshake and a greeting make everyone feel they are a part of our church family. By representing Christ and opening our doors and hearts to all, we are serving the community as we make St. Mark’s an inviting place to worship. Our ushering group is led by John Collins and Charlie Vaughn.

Liturgical Arrangements – This ministry enhances our worship through beautiful and reusable ornamental and floral displays in the church. These liturgical arrangements are visual aids which help us to encounter God in worship, through their creativity and beauty. We invite creative people who would like to share their ideas to help us put together new arrangements. Please contact Viviana Elena Zuniga at viviana_z@hotmail.com.

Music Ministry - Led by Music Director Chris Perry, the music ministry provides for music for all of our Sunday services. We are always looking for new singers and musicians! We rehearse Sunday mornings after the 10:00 service. If you’re interested, contact Chris at chris_perry@me.com.

Bishop's Committee

Our congregational leadership consists of 6 members, each serving a three year term. These leaders are elected at our annual meeting held in January. In addition to the members of the Bishop’s Committee, St Mark’s also includes a senior warden appointed by the Vicar to serve as their membership leader and the junior warden elected at the annual meeting. These eight people, along with the Vicar, comprise the leadership group of St. Mark’s.

For more information, contact Senior Warden Kevin Nunez, at seniorwarden@stmarksmesa.org
