Jesus said, “I came that they may have life, and have it more abundantly." John 10:10 What did Jesus mean by a more abundant life? Did he mean a happier life, or a wealthier life, or a more protected life? The Gospels indicate that he didn’t mean any of these, but instead he meant a more generous life, a more fearless life, a more caring life, a more loving life. Do The Work Of The One Who Sent You” Jesus said, “We must do the work of the one who sent me.” John 9:4 We are all called here to St. Mark’s. We may not have known it at the time, but God has called us all to do his work here in and through this place. We are called through our worship and praise, our prayers, and our service to others through our ministries. For all of this to happen, we need your continued support. St. Mark’s needs your time, talent, and also importantly your treasure. Your continued support helps the ministries reach out into our community. On that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. Luke 24-13-14 This Emmaus story of the appearance of the risen Jesus is a wonderful metaphor of our Christian life. As we go on our journey of life in this community of faith, we wonder in our hearts and talk with others about ‘all these things.’ We share our challenges and opportunities, how the Lord has appeared to us and what he asks of us, and we grow is wisdom and understanding as we respond to Jesus and one another.
