Together in Faith: Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” John 20:21

Jesus offers two messages to his followers: be at peace, and get to work. As stewards, our work is to build up the kingdom Jesus preached, the kingdom of justice, love and peace.

Church Women United (CWU): CWU will collect and pray over the “Least Coin” contributions on Friday, May 3rd. The coins from many nations support international human needs. Please place your coins in the container in the narthex. On Friday, May 3, 2019, 9:30-11 am in the sanctuary and Knight Hall, Church Women United Mesa, AZ Unit will be the guests of St. Mark’s for their Annual May Friendship Day. All Women are invited to attend. The 2019 theme is: “The Time Is Now-Agree to Differ”. Our program will highlight St. Mark’s mission. Contribution of children’s books (English and Spanish) will be collected for our mission project.

Children’s Book Drive: The Church Women United have elected to direct there May Mission project to My Own Books. My Own Books was founded by Mary Twentyman with the purpose of giving books to children who lack literacy resources in their homes. These children are given the opportunity to select up to 10 books to establish their our own home library. If you are interested in supporting this charity, a box will be in the narthex of the church where you can place new or gently-used children’s books for children from birth to six grade. Monetary donations are welcome since books are able to be purchased at extremely discounted prices. With summer approaching, the need is great. Children can lose several months of progress if they do not read during the summer. My Own Books have given over 64,000 books to deserving children and with your help that number will grow. Any questions or for a tax receipt, please contact Mary Twentyman at m20man53@gmail.com. English and Spanish books please!

Women’s Shelter: Daughters of the King will be accepting donations for the East Valley Women’s Center. Please place hygiene products in the box provided in the narthex. We would like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, socks, underwear, and other feminine hygiene products.

Together in Faith: Early on the first day of the week, while it was still dark, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and saw that the stone had been removed. John 20:1

Mary came to the tomb to mourn. Instead she discovered a reason to rejoice. Today, we share in her long-ago rejoicing, for the Lord is present to us as well.

Together in Faith: Jesus said to them, “I have eagerly desired to eat this Passover with you before I suffer.” Luke 22:15

Jesus, aware that his actions are leading to his arrest, is eager to run the course, complete the race. And he wants to enjoy the company of his followers one final time. As we run our course and complete our race, be aware that the Lord is with us each step of the way.

Together in Faith: “Let anyone among you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.” John 8:7

Lent is an ideal time to be aware of our own sinfulness, not so we feel shame but so we feel compassion. We are, all of us, sinners, and we can use that awareness to give the other sinners around us a break.

Church Women United (CWU): CWU will collect and pray over the “Least Coin” contributions on Friday, May 3rd. The coins from many nations support international human needs. Join Us for our Lenten Program: On Wednesdays during Lent, we will begin with Stations of the Cross at 10 am, followed by the healing Eucharist as usual. After the service, there will be a Lenten Program and everyone is encouraged to bring a bag lunch. On Fridays, we will begin with the Soup Supper at 6 pm in Knight Hall with Lenten Program during dinner, followed by Stations of the Cross inside the church. This year’s Lenten Program is “Back to the Basics”, a comprehensive review of the bible and the Anglican tradition; vestments and vessels; church etiquette and protocols.

Sale at MarkDowns: The Thrift Store will have NEW UNUSED items for sale on Sundays during the coffee hour, between 8:45 and 9:45. So come and browse and make your selections. The Thrift Store continues to be opened on Sundays from 8:45-9:45 AM., between the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services.
