Today's Readings: Acts 16:9-15; Psalm 67; Revelation 21:10, 22-22:5; John 5:1-9 Noticias Re"Mark"ados (anuncios en español) Together in Faith: “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, will… remind you of all that I told you.” John 14 Jesus promises his continuous reminding presence through the Holy Spirit… which is a good thing since it can be easy to forget what Jesus said and how it applies to our lives. The disciples were filled with joy and the Holy Spirit. Acts 13:52 Paul and Barnabas have just been harassed by some people in Antioch and chased out of town, yet they’re happy as can be. Obviously they didn’t have a problem with rejection! Which makes them pretty good role models for a steward, actually for anyone striving to live and proclaim the Good News. Pentecost is coming—June 9th: Please join YOUR voice to our multilingual "group reading" of Acts 2:1-21! We need people of all ages with a reading knowledge of any language or dialect. The passage we will read is short (Acts 2, verses 5-11 only); your rendition need not be "perfect"; if you're shy, don't worry -- you won't be "in the spotlight"; and we'll even print out a translation for you. In past years, the Pentecost message has been heard in Arabic, English, French, German, Gullah, Igbo, Kikuyu, Latin, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese... We may need more than one speaker of each language -- the more, the better! Please contact Jan Northcutt: [email protected] or 480-621- 0085. Let's make a "joyful noise" to the Lord! Bishop’s Visit: Our new Bishop, The Rt. Rev. Jennifer A. Reddall, will be visiting St. Mark’s on Sunday, September 29. We will have ONE bilingual service at 10 am with a potluck to follow in Knight Hall. As customary, the Bishop will be conducting Confirmations, Receptions and Reaffirmations of Baptismal Vows. If you are interested in becoming confirmed, received or reaffirming your baptismal vows in the Episcopal Church, please contact Fr. Gerardo. Women’s Shelter: Daughters of the King will be accepting donations for the East Valley Women’s Center. Please place hygiene products in the box provided in the narthex. We would like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, socks, underwear, and other feminine hygiene products. Sale at MarkDowns: The Thrift Store will have NEW UNUSED items for sale on Sundays during the coffee hour, between 8:45 and 9:45. So come and browse and make your selections. The Thrift Store continues to be opened on Sundays from 8:45-9:45 AM., between the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services. Upcoming Ministry Meetings:

John 13:35 Jesus sets a high bar for discipleship, that we so obviously love one another that other people will recognize it. And even though this particular verse speaks of loving only one another, Jesus clearly wants us to love everyone, especially those we may not be inclined to love. Children’s Book Drive: The Church Women United have elected to direct their May Mission project to My Own Books. My Own Books was founded by Mary Twentyman with the purpose of giving books to children who lack literacy resources in their homes. These children are given the opportunity to select up to 10 books to establish their our own home library. If you are interested in supporting this charity, a box will be in the narthex of the church where you can place new or gently-used children’s books for children from birth to six grade. Monetary donations are welcome since books are able to be purchased at extremely discounted prices. With summer approaching, the need is great. Children can lose several months of progress if they do not read during the summer. My Own Books have given over 64,000 books to deserving children and with your help that number will grow. Any questions or for a tax receipt, please contact Mary Twentyman at [email protected]. English and Spanish books please!
