Invest In Hope: The woman had heard about Jesus and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, for she said, “If I just touch his clothes, I will be made well.” Mark 5:27-28

Jesus has empowered his followers with a wonderful ability to make people well. By acts of kindness, generosity, thoughtfulness, inclusion and acceptance, we can make a small (or large) impact on people’s lives.

MarkDowns Thrift Store: The thrift store will be closed for the summer.

JULY UPDATE—COVID-19 (CORONAVIRUS): MESSAGE FROM FR GERARDO: (as announced during today's service - next week's printed bulletin will reflect these changes.)
As of June 18, there are updated guidelines for congregations in the Episcopal Diocese of Arizona.  For now, we continue to hold in-person worship services on SUNDAY ONLY.
  • The Bishop's Committee has voted to allow vaccinated individuals to attend worship without masks if they choose. Mask wearing continues to be mandatory for people who are NOT fully vaccinated. We trust our church family to be honest about their vaccination status and continue to care for those who cannot be vaccinated, such as our children.
  • Congregations may choose to resume receiving communion in both kinds, but only via intinction into a chalice with a small amount of wine, so that fingers cannot come into contact with the wine.
  • Congregational and choral singing can resume as approved by clergy and vestry. A reminder that all singers and musicians must be masked if not fully vaccinated.
  • Worship and other events can take place with up to 50% of the capacity of the room being used.
  • Coffee hour and events involving food may take place indoors or outdoors.
We continue to provide services online on St. Mark’s Episcopal Church’s Facebook page (no Facebook account or log in needed - just click the Join online services button above). We are also on YouTube!

June Tithing: St. Mark’s is still present and desperately needs your support. If you normally bring an envelope with a check to church, you can instead mail that envelope to the church office, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 322 N Horne St, Mesa, AZ 85203. If you usually give loose cash to the church, you can instead write a check and mail, or you can donate via the PayPal button on the right or here through FaithStreet - on the "Choose a Fund" drop down menus, scroll to choose "St. Mark's, Mesa". You can also do online payments through your bank, through the Bill Pay option. You could even set up a recurring payment through your bank if you wish, so you will not forget. God Bless and Stay Safe, Dianne Nunez, Stewardship/Finance Chair.

Altar Servers: As we are coming back to church more and more, I am looking for Altar Servers. On Saturday, July 10, 2021 at 10AM, Fr Gerardo and Dave Klataske will be leading an Altar Server Training in the church. Please RSVP with Fr Gerardo or Dave Klataske after church on Sunday so we know how many will be joining us. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Looking for a Social Media Team for St. Mark's: If you are active on social media and love St. Mark's, we're looking for you! We want to develop a social media team to help coordinate our communication and engage our congregation on all our social media platforms - currently Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter, in both English and Spanish. If you are interested in volunteering, have suggestions, or would like more information, please contact Anali Perry at webmaster@stmarksmesa.org.

Invest In Hope: The wind ceased and there was great calm. Then he asked them, “Why are you terrified? Do you not yet have faith?” Mark 4:39-40

Amidst the storms of life, we often tend to respond in fear. Jesus invites us to place all our trust in him and his merciful love. Even in the greatest sorrows and challenges of life, God is working everything for our good.

Invest In Hope: “God’s kingdom is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs.” Mark 4:31-32

The power of stewardship can be hard to measure. Our efforts may appear small, a drop in the bucket, but can have enormous consequences.

Invest In Hope: “Whoever does the will of God is my brother and sister and mother.” Mark 3:35

One of the early Christian communities’ major struggles was determining who was in and who was out. Things haven’t changed very much! We are still challenged to open our doors, broaden our tent, and recognize our brothers and sisters.
