Together in Faith: “How can people be born again once they are old?” asked Nicodemus. John 3:4

The good news of the Christian life is that people can always be born again. God’s invitation to a renewed life of service, love, care and concern is never withdrawn and can be accepted at any time. Now, for instance, is a great time to embrace more fully a life of discipleship and stewardship.

Bishop's Committee Parishioner Liaison: Every week there is an assigned member of the Bishop's Committee to serve as a Parishioner Liaison. We encourage parishioners to seek out this assigned member whenever there is a suggestion, question or concern. The liaisons will bring all comments to the monthly meeting of the Bishop's Committee to be addressed as appropriate. This week’s Parishioner Liaison is Maureen Davies.

Women’s Shelter: Daughters of the King will be accepting donations for the Women’s Shelter. Please place hygiene products in the box provided in the narthex. We would like toothbrushes, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion, socks, underwear, and other feminine hygiene products.

Together in Faith: “Your sons and daughters shall prophesy. Your young shall see visions and your old shall dream dreams.” Acts 2:17

God’s Spirit is moving, among young and old alike. We do well to respect the wisdom and experience of older persons; we also do well to respect the energy, enthusiasm and new insights of the younger.

Together in Faith: Jesus looked up to heaven and said…”I have made your name known.” John 17: 6

Like Jesus, we are invited to make God present in our world, today. We do this by our words, of course, but even more by our actions. A steward strives to do as Jesus suggested: feed the hungry, care for the sick, reach out for the needy.

This week’s Parishioner Liaison is John Ddamba.

Sunday School: The last scheduled day of church school is May 20th. Awards will be presented on that day during our regular service.

Spring Cleaning Yard Sale: St. Mark’s will be holding a Spring Cleaning Yard Sale on Saturday, May 19th from 7 am—3 pm in Knight Hall and St. Mark’s parking lot. Shop for great deals! Spread the word to family, friends and neighbors! Donations are graciously being accepted of household items in good, working condition such as: furniture, electronics, kitchen dishes, appliances, etc. If you need help bringing larger items to the church, please contact Fr. Gerardo at 480-406- 3852 to schedule assistance with pickup. We need volunteers to work at this yard sale, even if only in short shifts, as well as additional volunteers to assist with distribution of food and drinks to participants—all help is appreciated! Contact Fr. G or the office for more information. All funds generated are being allocated towards property repairs and other church expenditures.

Pentecost is coming: Please join YOUR voice to our multilingual "group reading" of Acts 2:1-21! We need people of all ages with a reading knowledge of any language or dialect. The passage we will read is short (Acts 2, verses 5-11 only); your rendition need not be "perfect"; if you're shy, don't worry -- you won't be "in the spotlight"; and we'll even print out a translation for you. In past years, the Pentecost message has been heard in Arabic, English, French, German, Gullah, Igbo, Kikuyu, Latin, Russian, Spanish, Vietnamese... We may need more than one speaker of each language -- the more, the better! Please contact Jan Northcutt: macnorth@toast.net or 480-621-0085. Let's make a "joyful noise" to the Lord!

Together in Faith: "This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12

It's hard to offer any improvement on these words of Jesus. They are so simple, so direct, so plain, so profound. The disciple of Jesus will always strive to be a person who loves as Jesus does.
