Together in Faith: “Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but rather division!” Luke 12:51

This statement of Jesus should hardly be surprising. His message of total commitment to God’s realm, self-denial and justice for all was then and continues to be a radical call. Followers of Jesus should not be surprised that their actions are often not welcomed by the powerful of this world.

Together in Faith: “Make purses for yourselves that do not wear out, an unfailing treasure in heaven, where no thief comes near and no moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Luke 12:33-34

Jesus was able to capture a profound truth in just a few words…”where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” A good steward will often ask, Where is my heart, what is my treasure?

Together in Faith: And he said to them, “Be on your guard against all forms of greed, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of one’s possessions.” Luke 12:15

Possessions can become life’s scorecard. And possessions can be money, cars, children’s accomplishments, gadgets… you name it, someone somewhere will think it’s so very important. But is it? It takes discipline to remind ourselves not to fall for the accumulation of things.

Back to School: The Food Pantry volunteers will be giving out backpacks and school supplies during the July food distributions. There will be a donation box in the Narthex on July Sundays . Suggested donations are: Note paper, pens, pencils, markers, glue, scissors, rulers, file folders, crayons. Thank you for helping kids start the school year feeling prepared to succeed.
