Invest In Hope: “To all God's beloved in Rome, who are called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 1:7

If Paul were writing to us, he would tell us that we too are called to be saints. That’s both a joy and a challenge. How should we live as saints? As a Christmas reflection, that’s something to consider!

“Let’s Celebrate This Christmas Together At St. Mark’s” WE ARE BACK! You can see all the wonderful things happening at St. Mark’s and you can’t help but be excited. We are in the middle of our Annual Giving Pledge Campaign. Every year you are asked to prayerfully think about what you can give to support God’s work at St. Mark’s. This is important work we all do, and without your support none of it can happen. Every dollar goes to the ministries and service in our community, the nation and the world. There is so much to be thankful for at St. Mark’s and we want to plan for more amazing things next year. You can pick up a Giving Pledge Card in the back of the church, or you can go online and fill out the information. We need your information as soon as possible so we can make plans for next year. We know times are always uncertain, but without your commitment, we will not be here in the future. It is for our children and theirs that we build this community of God called St. Mark’s.

Christmas Flowers: Remember a loved one or offer thanks in our Christmas Eve service bulletins. Please fill out a Christmas Flowers form found in the Narthex and enclose it with your payment in the envelope provided. Forms and money are due no later than Sunday, December 18, 2022.

Invest In Hope: Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John what you hear and see: the blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them.” Matthew 11:4-5

What Jesus offers are not things that people want (as in Christmas gifts) but things they need: sight, the ability to walk and to hear, especially to hear the good news. A steward might be thinking: How can we bring these necessities to the needy around us?

Invest In Hope: “With righteousness he shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth.” Isaiah 11:4

Isaiah encourages equity for the poor and the meek of the earth. In preparation for the family sharing of gifts at Christmas, Advent invites us to actively share gifts with the poor and the meek.

Invest In Hope: “They shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks.” Isaiah 2:4

Isaiah’s hoped-for time of peace will be echoed by the coming King, Jesus. As Christian stewards, we can work to reduce the level of rancor and hateful discord in our society.

“Let’s Celebrate This Christmas Together At St. Mark’s” Thank you for your generosity. We have raised just over $49,000 for the campaign to keep St. Mark’s here in this place. We’ve also raised over $2,000 in our Miles of Quarters. Please continue to pray for St. Mark’s, invite friends, family and neighbors to events or services, and donate. If you love St. Mark’s, please continue to give. We have so many options that there is no excuse to give generously. You can use check, cash, online direct from your bank account, or PayPal from our website. Please begin praying and considering what you will pledge towards next year at St. Mark’s. Our pledge card ingathering will be in November, and we MUST see an increase in our pledges over this year. We must ALL give a bit more. Growth is the key to our stability. Growth in pledges, donations and people.

2 Corinthians 9:11 “You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

Concert: The East Valley Pops Orchestra will be holding their first concert for the 2022-23 season here at St. Mark’s on Tuesday, November 29 at 7PM. Come and enjoy Christmas music and more. The concert is free to the public. Donations to the Richey Foundation will be accepted to support music in needy schools.
