Together in Faith: “For all of them have contributed out of their abundance; but she out of her poverty has put in everything she had.” Mark 12:44
The story of the poor widow’s contribution out of her poverty, compared to those who contribute out of their abundance, is a reminder to most of us that we are greatly blessed and an encouragement that we strive to outdo one another in generosity.
Bishop's Committee Parishioner Liaison: Every week there is an assigned member of the Bishop's Committee to serve as a Parishioner Liaison. We encourage parishioners to seek out this assigned member whenever there is a suggestion, question or concern. The liaisons will bring all comments to the monthly meeting of the Bishop's Committee to be addressed as appropriate. This week’s Parishioner Liaison is Anali Perry.
Commitment Sunday: November 25th is the day we turn in our pledge cards with our financial commitment for 2019 in support of the mission of St. Mark’s. During the service we will ask you to come forward with your signed pledge card, and we’ll gather them together and offer them up to God in prayer. If you didn’t receive a pledge card in the mail, you may find one in the pew pocket on that day. If you have yet to decide on your giving for 2019, please consider that the church depends on the support of all here to sustain the many ministries here. We ask that all who attend St. Mark’s, both our full-time and seasonal members, take seriously their responsibility for financial stewardship of the parish and consider making a generous pledge of support.
Divine Diners: Divine Diners will be assigning new dinner groups for November through February. Please contact Teresa Gordon (email@example.com) or Bobbie Degnon (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you haven’t signed up and would like to be included in the fun.
Thanksgiving Donations: It's almost time for Turkey again! If you would like to donate toward the purchase of gift cards for Turkeys, Food Pantry volunteers will be accepting donations during coffee time. The gift cards will be given to those in need during food distribution on November 13th.
Sale at MarkDowns: The Thrift Store will have NEW UNUSED items for sale on Sundays during the coffee hour, between 8:45 and 9:45. So come and browse and make your selections. The Thrift Store continues to be opened on Sundays from 8:45-9:45 AM., between the 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM services. Also, we need volunteers especially now due to several people having health issues. We need to have at least two people to have the store open otherwise it has to close. All our profits go to help with the church's expenses.
Calling Bishop’s Committee Candidates: Will you consider running? As a candidate, you will need to be a member in good standing, committed to growing spiritually, and supportive of both the mission and ministries of our church. If you meet these expectations and would like to explore serving on the Bishop’s Committee, please contact Fr. Gerardo at 480-964-5820 no later than December, 14th.
